Unethical Arial
If you're seeing this, you've probably seen my FontStruction. And if you've seen my FontStruction, you're probably wondering...
Okay, Tethrarxitet. What did you even do to the project that you made in April?
And if you're probably wondering that, I may as well tell you.
What even is Unethical Arial?
Unethical Arial is a recreation of Arial I made in a fairly popular tile-based font creator site named FontStruct. It started in the final stretch of March, and I finished it in late April.
The special thing about Unethical Arial is that, instead of abiding by the limits of FontStruct:
- Horizontal and vertical tile flips
- 90 degree tile rotations
- 1/8 - 1/4 - 3/8 - 1/2 tile nudges in any direction
- Composites of up to 16 tiles
I used a lot of project file editing to make the font look as close to Arial as possible, even if it meant removing the limits of the FontStruct editor:
- Tile scaling from -5 to 5
- Fine rotation adjustments
- Fine tile nudging
- Composites with stretched and offset tiles
The FontStruction is still fully functional, downloadable, cloneable, and editable. However, the project file may not be very user- friendly, and it may be difficult to edit the font without breaking it.
